We the Parents
Directed by James Takata
WE THE PARENTS follows the first group of parents to attempt to transform their failing school under California’s new “Parent Trigger” law. While many documentaries have highlighted the crises of our education system, WE THE PARENTS examines a potential solution – the idea of giving power to parents. It's an untested possibility, but the film follows every step of the significant controversy, drama, and legal battles that ensue when these Compton caregivers attempt to exercise their newfound rights. The feature-length debut of director James Takata, WE THE PARENTS tells a universal story of parents wanting a better future for their children.
