Kino Lorber has acquired North American rights to Sundance winner Scrapper, written and directed by first time feature filmmaker Charlotte Regan. The film stars Triangle of Sadness actor Harris Dickinson and newcomer Lola Campbell. Scrapper was awarded the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic following critical praise for both actors’ performances as well as the poignant and imaginative script from Regan. Scrapper will next bow as the Opening Night film at Sundance London, followed by a theatrical release via Kino Lorber later this year as well as a digital and home video release on all major platforms.

Kino Lorber announced that it has acquired all North American distribution rights to Carlos Conceição’s ambitious and exquisitely crafted Tommy Guns, a genre-fluid fantasia that vengefully engages with Angola’s colonial past while evoking the work of Miguel Gomes, Claire Denis, and even M. Night Shyamalan. The film will make its North American premiere at New Directors/New Films with director Carlos Conceição and actor João Arrais in attendance, followed by a theatrical release via Kino Lorber on April 12. 

Kino Lorber and Beta Cinema announced that they have closed a deal for all North American distribution rights to Alex Schaad’s daring first feature Skin Deep, a sharp, thoughtful take on the body swap film that upends genres to examine gender, sexuality, and personal identity. Kino Lorber is planning a theatrical release later this year followed by a digital and home video release on all major platforms. 

Kino Lorber announced that it has acquired from The Bureau Sales all US distribution rights to Jean-Paul Salomé’s gripping true life thriller The Sitting Duck, starring Isabelle Huppert as the French union organizer and whistleblower Maureen Kearney. The Sitting Duck will open theatrically in France in March, and Kino Lorber is planning a US theatrical release later this year followed by a digital and home video release on all major platforms. 

Kino Lorber announced that it has acquired all US distribution rights to Final Cut, directed by Academy Award® winner Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist) and starring Romain Duris (L'Auberge Espagnole) and Academy Award® nominee Bérénice Bejo (The Artist). Kino Lorber will release the film theatrically in Summer 2023 followed by a digital and home video release on all major platforms.

Zeitgeist Films in association with Kino Lorber, two of the leading distribution companies for art-house and international films in the U.S., announced that they have acquired all US rights to the animated feature Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman from The Match Factory. The feature debut of composer Pierre Földes, Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman will open theatrically at Film Forum in New York in April 2023 before expanding nationwide.

Kino Lorber announced that it has acquired North American distribution rights to Orit Fouks Rotem’s nuanced and absorbing debut Cinema Sabaya, Israel’s official entry to the 95th Academy Awards. A richly textured portrait of a group of Arab and Israeli women taking part in a documentary filmmaking workshop, Cinema Sabaya will be released theatrically by Kino Lorber in early 2023, followed by digital and home video release.

Zeitgeist Films in association with Kino Lorber, two of the leading distribution companies for art-house and international films in the U.S., have acquired all North American rights to Eva Vitija’s Loving Highsmith, an intimate documentary portrait of the novelist Patricia Highsmith that casts new light on her life and oeuvre. Zeitgeist Films will release the film theatrically this September.
