Kino Lorber Acquires North American Rights to Sepideh Farsi’s Powerful Gaza Documentary 'Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk'

"A powerful memorial to someone who was both ordinary and extraordinary.”
– Allan Hunter, Screen International
“Less a documentary exposé than a piece of raw unfiltered evidence, bearing witness to a tragedy that continues to unfold. The film, and Hassona's eye-opening photographs, will one day be added to the historical record detailing what happened in Gaza – which, in a broader sense, is also about what has happened to our civilization.”
– Jordan Mintzer, The Hollywood Reporter
“A tremendously moving portrait of resistance under siege.
Undoubtedly the most important film of this year’s festival.”
– Isaac Feldberg, RogerEbert.com
Kino Lorber has acquired North American distribution rights to Sepideh Farsi’s Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk, a powerful document of life in Gaza during the Israeli military invasion told through video conversations with young Palestinian photojournalist Fatma Hassouna. The documentary made its World Premiere in the Cannes 2025 ACID section and most recently screened at the 2025 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk will be released theatrically by Kino Lorber followed by a digital, educational, and home video release.
Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk offers an intimate, first-hand perspective on life under siege in Gaza, captured through video calls between director Sepideh Farsi and Fatma Hassona, who was tragically killed with her family in a targeted Israeli airstrike on her home on April 16, just one day after the film’s Cannes selection was announced. Combining raw immediacy with deep humanity, Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk portrays daily life during the conflict through the eyes of a generation caught in an endless cycle of war and living under siege.
The deal for Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk was negotiated by Kino Lorber VP of Acquisitions Karoliina Dwyer and Sebastien Chesneau of Cercamon.
“Sepideh Farsi has crafted an intimate, courageous film that now stands as a final testament to the life of her friend, photojournalist and poet Fatma Hassouna. In the face of her tragic death and the continued destruction of Gaza, it feels more important than ever to ensure that Fatma's story is heard. We're honored and proud to partner with Sepideh and bring Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk to North American audiences,” said Dwyer.
“This film is a hand stretched out towards Gaza, trying to make a film despite the physical blockade, in order to reach the human. My encounter with Fatem, who became my mirrored soul, was a miracle. Her sunny smile and her photos will forever be a vivid testimony to the sufferings of the Palestinian people. I’m deeply moved to see the film released in North America by Kino Lorber, allowing Fatem’s voice and spirit to resonate far beyond the borders she was never allowed to cross,” said director Sepideh Farsi.
Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk is produced by Rêves d’Eau Productions, in co-production with 24images. The film is written, directed, shot, and edited by Sepideh Farsi.
