Eleanor Antin is an acclaimed artist and filmmaker with a long, diverse career in installation, performance and visual art. In this project of six short films, she charts the "lost years” of one of her many personas in Eleanora Antinova, the once celebrated African-American ballerina of Diaghlev’s Ballets Russes. Antinova's career in the United States is documented through narrative films and dance recordings made back in the Depression, including comedies, spicy farces and more. An incredibly unique piece of artwork that Antin has described as documentary fiction, FROM THE ARCHIVES OF MODERN ART is sure to provoke and inspire viewers in equal measure.
